So you think you can be a "Parent" ?

People tend to be like, this is a taboo or this is already illegal it doesn't happen in India. They are wrong. Just by keeping yourself in a comforting zone of ignorance doesn't keep your saint conscience clean nor in peace. The concerns of our Indian culture that doesn't include any particular religion or region but the thought process be rectified and the problems must be dealt hard handed. We must take charge of the issues we have known for a while now and try to make awareness and fight for it on real grounds as well.

One such concern is Child Marriages which is not an extinct act and is practised even till date in many remote areas. If we try to understand the mindset of those families who organise their daughters' wedding in their tender age, it is pretty naive and blind logic. They may be of the opinion that by wedding off their daughters will protect her dignity from being molested or abused sexually at tender age of childhood. What they don't realise is that by wedding off their daughters in a tender age might still lead to her mental, physical, social and not for the least sexual abuse by her so called soul mate.

The only way we can curb this discrimination is by the equating the gender and creating an environment safe for our daughters and sons equally. Bringing them both up as an equal and inculcating manners and sense of judgement.

This is not an article or blog post to a particular group. This is to all parents and all those who are expecting to be a parent in near future. The responsibilities are much more than raising the child by providing education and good food. It's about nurturing a good mindset providing a rich dose of Indian culture and understanding of the responsibilities as an individual.

Issues of Domestic Violence, Eve Teasing, Rapes are the result of an opaque upbringing and injection of a hollow male ego inside the youth blood. The more they tend to be open to surrounding and controlled emotions can lead to a better safe future for everyone.
